The Mayor's Innovation Awards 2025 consists of online submissions. Invitations to submit will be issued to nominees after the nominations close at 11:59pm on July 21, 2025.

ENTRY COMPLETION

  • When your nomination has been approved, you will receive a notification from us, inviting you to claim your account and fill out your entry.
  • All supporting materials listed are REQUIRED.
  • Include an electronic copy of current corporate logo or your personal head shot for marketing materials. 
  • Entries will be saved in your member account and can be edited up until the entry deadline. If you require assistance with submissions, please contact our office ~ invest@barrie.ca. 

Accuracy of submitted materials is the responsibility of the applicant. 

Information given on the entry form will be used exactly as submitted in the award ceremony through production, presentation, and recognition in the media.

LETTERS OF REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS (self-nominations)     

  • Maximum number of allowable letters is two.
  • Letters of reference must be from one of the following categories: community organizations, business, customers, peers, or employees. 
  • References should be PDF format, and can include emails, cards, website testimonials, customer comment cards, etc.
  • Reference letters must be dated no earlier than January 2024.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE 

  • Online submission, including all supporting documentation, must be complete by 11:59pm, August 18, 2025.
  • After this deadline, the committee reserves the right to extend the deadline for a SPECIFIC category and solicit additional entries in the event that there are less than three entries from a minimum of two companies in the category in question.

JUDGING PROCESS / FINAL NOTES

  • The City of Barrie reserves the right to disqualify incomplete submissions without notice. 
  • Acceptance of submissions received is at the discretion of the City of Barrie.
  • All entrants agree to be bound by these rules.

Independent Panel of Judges consists of external key community figures from across Ontario who bring their professional experience and unique perspectives to the panel. Together, they assess each submission and determine which companies deserve awards in each category. Judges will review the submissions and rate the work against provided criteria through a secure online system to determine the top three finalists in each category.

City of Barrie staff are not involved in selecting nominees or finalists.

AWARDS CEREMONY

The Mayor's Innovation Awards will be presented in a VIP Award Ceremony with details to be announced.
